FORT WAYNE, INDIANA, – Steel Dynamics, Inc. (NASDAQ-GS: STLD) announced first quarter 2008 net income of $143 million, or $0.72 per diluted share, reflecting the company’s recent two-for-one stock split ($1.44 per diluted share on a pre-split basis). Net income increased 40 percent and net sales more than doubled to $1.9 billion, compared to the first quarter of 2007. Noblesville, Indiana-based Warner Bodies plans to boost business with the purchase of Metro Products, a metal fabricating shop in Indianapolis. Mark Boice, president and owner of Warner Bodies, said his company completed the $850,000 deal in late January. Metro does subcontract work for small and medium sized companies, churning out everything from tanning beds to golf ball retrievers. The shop is also under contract to manufacture a line of custom food processing and pharmaceutical mixing equipment under the Langsenkamp line.
